Details
Cantine Belisario is a 300-hectare co-operative founded in 1971. Today, it is the biggest producer of Verdicchio in the Matelica DOC, and has twenty four biodynamic vineyards. The vineyards are situated further inland, and therefore have a more continental climate, than those in the Castelli di Jesi zone, but the wines can be every bit as good. The combination of warm days and cool nights gives a longer growing season and lovely aromatic qualities to the wines. Terre di Valbona is a blend of grapes selected from some of the best vineyards included in the co-op. They are situated on a hillside at between 350-450m above sea level and have a southerly exposure. The age of the vines is between 9-24 years old.
