Details
The Cluver family bought the Elgin farm in 1896 to provide summer grazing for their livestock and in the mid 1900's it became a strong apple producing region. In the mid 1980's the area was identified as a cool climate wine-growing region which led to the first Cluver plantings in 1986 with Paul Cluver cellar being the first to be established in Elgin Paul Cluver Wines are the result of a close-knit family. Guided by Dr Paul Cluver, neurosurgeon, apple farmer and chairman of Capespan and Vinfruco and run by General Manager Paul Cluver junior. The winemaker Andries Burger is married to Inge Cluver who also works in the business with her sisters Karin and Liesl.
